HowTo – Upgrade to V2.5

What’s so special?

Version 2.5 is a breaking change upgrade. It offers a lot of new features including OTA-Update, WEB-Configuration and -Controlling. Therefore it also adds some new and changes some existent configuration settings. So after applying the upgrade a factory reset will be enforced.

Security Advice: Please deactivate the WIFI access in public areas like conventions etc. . It has no access protection at the moment, because it is made for easy home configuration only. In combination with CSL+ we will provide a simple mechanism to switch WIFI access on and off at runtime.

Step-by-Step Upgrade Guide

Navigate to the corresponding support page of your AstroCAN-Module
Go to section “Firmware Installer”
Connect your module to you PC using an USB cable
Click on “Connect”
Select the corresponding USB-Device (normally it is called something like “CP2102 USB to UART bridge controller”
Click on “Install AstroCAN “
For Upgrade to Version 2.5 from lower version select “Erase device”. Otherwise leave unchecked.
Confirm the following dialog and click on “Install”
Be patient! Do not disconnect your device while upgrading.
It shall show you “Installation complete” after some time. Confirm by clicking on “Next”
Back to the Main Menu click “Logs & Console”
Click to “Reset Device”
Please enter your WLAN SSID and password, if you like to use OTA Upgrade and Web-Configuration.
The system will start auto-configuration and might reboot two times until all is fine.
Important information: (IP and DNS).Write down the information to get access to the Web-based configuration page of your module
Click on “back”
Update is ready now. Use IP or DNS-Name to connect to and configure your module.
